Newry Mums at The Quays

The Quays, Newry are delighted to announce an exciting new partnership with online Community Private Facebook Group Newry Mums. From Monday 7^th November and each Monday morning thereafter The Quays Newry Mums Community hub will open to host the Newry Mums at our drop in Coffee mornings.  From 9:30-11:30am Mums and their kids can pop in to the unit beside Boots for a free tea or coffee kindly sponsored by Starbucks along with nibbles and some healthy kids snack options sponsored by Sainsbury’s.

The unit is a warm safe space for people to meet and connect with other like-minded women.  Some may be coming for breathing space after dropping kids off at school, others will meet friends and mums, childminders and Nanna’s will have a safe space to come with little ones. We’ll have a Newry Mums noticeboard where you can access lots of information and resources available for parents. Kids can draw/play or chill out and watch TV on our big screen at the back of the unit.

Linda Murphy started Newry Mums Facebook group with the help of Joanne Callan and Edel Keenan as a way for mums in this area to connect and to provide support, resources and information to mums in our community. The group has grown massively over the past 6 years and is now a well-known community page providing invaluable support to the Newry area.  We are so happy to be providing a physical space for Mums to come to chat, socialize and enjoy a cuppa. “

“We were so happy to receive the call from The Quays regarding a physical space for Newry Mums as this is something we’ve been looking into, especially coming into the winter months.  This safe, warm and welcoming area will offer our ladies somewhere to socialize and connect in person after so many years of helping each other online and we are so excited to welcome you all through the doors.  Our launch event will take place from 9:30am on Monday 7^th November. We are asking mums to pre-register for the first event so we can gauge numbers (https://www.changingcyclescommunity.com/event-details/newry-mums-coffee-morning-launch) but each week afterwards we’ll operate a drop in service with no booking or registration necessary.  The Hub is a lovely comfy space for mums to sit and has lots to keep young kids entertained. “
